Shop these in one order
Mello puts these ingredients on one shopping list with the rest of your week, and anything two recipes share is added together. The list then goes to Sainsbury's in the UK or Careem Quik in the UAE.
Add to a shopping listHow the shopping list works →- Step 1
Toast the walnuts: Place the walnuts in a dry frying pan over medium heat. Toast for 3-4 minutes until fragrant. Roughly chop and set aside.
- Step 2
Cook the Gnocchi: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the gnocchi and cook according to package instructions (they float when ready, usually 2-3 minutes). Drain well.
- Step 3
Prepare the Brown Butter Sauce: While the gnocchi cooks, melt the butter in a very large, wide frying pan over medium heat. Add the whole sage leaves and the thinly sliced garlic.
- Step 4
Allow the butter to melt, then foam, and then the milk solids will begin to turn golden brown and smell nutty (Beurre Noisette). This takes about 5-7 minutes. Watch carefully to prevent burning.
- Step 5
Once the butter is a rich amber colour, remove the pan from the heat immediately to stop cooking. Carefully remove the sage leaves (they will be crispy and can be used as a garnish).
- Step 6
Pan-Fry the Gnocchi: Return the pan (with the brown butter) to medium-high heat. Add the drained gnocchi to the pan. Pan-fry for 4-5 minutes, tossing gently, until the outside of the gnocchi is lightly golden and slightly crisp.
- Step 7
Stir in the baby spinach until just wilted (about 1 minute). Stir in the lemon zest.
- Step 8
Serve immediately, divided among four bowls. Top generously with the toasted walnuts, the crispy sage leaves, and grated Parmesan cheese.
