A recipe organizer that does the macros for you

Save a recipe from anywhere and Mello works out what is in it - calories, protein, carbs and fat per serving, computed ingredient by ingredient rather than guessed. Over 1,600 public dishes carry macros checked against USDA food data.

How the macros are worked out

  1. 1

    Save the recipe

Paste a link from Instagram, TikTok, a food blog or a chef's own site. Mello reads out the ingredients with their real quantities.

  2. 2

Every ingredient is weighed and looked up

Each line is resolved to grams and matched against USDA FoodData Central, then the totals are divided by the servings. Nothing is estimated from the dish name.

  3. 3

Filter by what you are aiming for

Browse by high protein, lower calorie or lighter dishes, with the numbers already worked out rather than promised.

Recipe macros - FAQ

Where do the numbers come from?

Each ingredient is resolved to a weight in grams and matched against USDA FoodData Central. The per-serving figures are arithmetic on those matches, not a guess from the recipe title. Over 1,600 public dishes carry a verified match.

What if an ingredient is not in the database?

The row falls back to an estimate and the recipe is labelled as estimated rather than verified. You can open the breakdown and see which is which, per ingredient.

Does it handle cooking oil and stock properly?

Yes. A deep-frying oil bath is mostly left in the pan and stock bones are lifted out, so they are discounted rather than counted as eaten. Counting them in full is what makes most automatic nutrition figures wrong.

Can I track macros across a whole week?

You can plan a week of meals and see each dish's macros. Per-day targets and tracking are a Pro feature.

Do I have to enter recipes by hand?

No. Import from a link and the ingredients, quantities and steps come with it - the macros follow automatically.
