Mello (“we”, “us”) helps you save recipes, plan meals, and turn them into a shopping order. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Mello at mello-meals.com or in our app, you agree to this policy.
Information we collect
- Account details. When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name, email address, and profile image from that provider. If you use email sign-in, we store your email.
- Your preferences. Dietary choices, allergies, preferred cuisines, household size, macro targets, and any free-text instructions you provide.
- Content you create. Recipes you import or generate, meal plans, shopping lists, favourites, and household connections.
- Usage & device data. Basic product analytics (pages viewed, features used), and — if you enable notifications — a push subscription for your device.
- Billing. If you subscribe to Mello Pro, our payment processor handles your card details; we store only your subscription status, not your card number.
How we use your information
- To provide and personalise the service — generating recipes and plans that respect your tastes and allergies.
- To build your shopping lists and hand them off to a grocery partner when you choose to shop.
- To send you the notifications and emails you’ve opted into (e.g. weekly planning nudges).
- To operate billing, prevent abuse, and improve Mello.
Service providers we share data with
We share the minimum necessary with providers who process data on our behalf:
- Supabase — authentication, database and file storage.
- Google & Apple — sign-in.
- Stripe — subscription payments.
- AI providers (e.g. OpenAI, Anthropic, Google) — to generate or extract recipes; we send recipe text, ingredients and your instructions, not your identity.
- PostHog — product analytics.
- Resend — transactional and lifecycle email.
- Grocery partners (e.g. Careem) — when you choose to shop a list, we pass the items to complete your order.
We do not sell your personal information.
Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time, after which we remove your personal data except where we must retain it for legal or billing reasons.
Your rights
You can access, correct, export, or delete your data. To make a request, email us at hello@mello-meals.com. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA.
Cookies
We use essential cookies to keep you signed in. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
Children
Mello is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes
We may update this policy; we’ll revise the date above and, for material changes, notify you in the app.
